Swedish Mid-Century Dresser
This walnut and beech dresser was designed by William Hinn for the Urban Furniture Company’s Swedish Guild Collection in the 1950s, and was likely made in around 1960. The dresser has a gently curved front. Eight drawers float in an elegant ‘exoskeleton’. The wood grain on the front of the drawers is perfectly aligned. This is characteristic of the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the era, and intrinsic to the beauty and flow of the piece. The eight drawers have a beech wood interior, which provides a stylish contrast to the walnut exterior. The top two drawers have been compartmentalised, for storing and arranging smaller items.
As to be expected with a piece of furniture of this age, it has had some refinishing. There are some barely noticeable signs of wear and tear on the exterior, and a few minor scratches inside a couple the drawers. This does not detract from the value of this beautiful dresser.
Dimensions: 34” (86.4cm) high, 78” (198cm) wide, 24” (61cm) deep.
